|
In order to develop regional public water supply effectively and facilitate thesaturation
of tap-water, in January 1,1974, the government combined 128waterworks all over
the island and in Kaohsiung City and established Taiwan Water Corporation to manage
the water industry under a corporate structure.As the secondary unit of the Company,
the Branch provides water production,operation, maintenance, business and customer
services to Hsinchu County,Hsinchu City, and Miaoli County (Jhuolan is covered by
the 4th Branch). The department provides Construction, operation, Sales, Labor Safety,
Materialand Supplies, Examination, General Service, Finance, Administration and
Civil Service, and the Procurement Office was established to cope with businessneeds
based on different assignments.

In addition, three water treatment plants,one service center, 6 operation offices,
and a Pipe Repair Team was established.There are 16 water supplysy stems altogether,
including Grand Hsinchu of thedepartment, with a total water demand of 700,000 tons,
amongwhich 43.9% is supplied by water dens, 52.1% is from surface water and 4% is
from underground water.
